Lot's of Guns

Thad had the day off of work today, and we had a little adventure. He's been meaning to teach me how to shoot our handgun, so we went out to the shooting range with some friends. This really was my first time shooting anything, but I was impressed with myself. We shot the 22's, which was fun, with those scopes you can't miss!

Rhonda was killing me with her pose, and she was a good shot.

We also shot the 45's and had a little competition, which Thad won, but I did so well that I saved the targets ;) The first one is mine, the second Thads. We shot from 10 yards away, and I was just impressed that all 6 rounds were on the paper.

We also did the shotgun, but it was way too strong and after a couple shots I had a knot in my shoulder so I gave up. The guys emptied a box of clays though.

And we just had to take this picture. Not even Charlies Angels could rock the safety glasses like Renee does.

There are no pictures of Thad because he had the camera the whole time, but he represented and won us a free Rosemary's trip from the target competition.
We left our children with my sister for the morning and when we got back Sammy was walking around the house like this. He's such a gangsta.

So the sewing project is done and I tackled the chairs with the staple gun on Saturday. I love the new fabric!

Now it's on to refinishing the table.

Babies and Presents

It seems like we have been busy lately, but not doing anything out of the ordinary. Thursday night Kelsie and Porter arrived from ABQ late, so I took the kids to see her Friday morning. I told Andi who was at Grandmas and she went running out the front door yelling, "Baby Porter, here I come!"  Since then poor Porter has been basically smothered by my children. They like him.

That same day Andi had a V-day party with a group of kids who go to the school she will be at next year. She loved it, and has asked me every day since when she gets to go play with her new friends again. They exchanged valentines, decorated cookies, and ran around like crazy in my friend Judi's backyard. It was pretty much the best day ever in Andi's opinion.

Thad came home at lunch on Valentines day with flowers and cards for both Andi and I and a pink and white pony for Andi, who is a little obsessed with ponies these days. She was so excited to get flowers it was hard to calm her down. But after Thad went back to work she came in to the kitchen, "Mom, I got three things from Daddy." me: "I know, wasn't that nice?" Andi:"Ya, but you only got two things. I got more than you."   Nice. She's not competitive at all.
Sammy is talking a little more these days, and yesterday even put two words together a couple of times. "Andi, no!" "Andi, eat!" Basically he yells commands at Andi, so I don't know if that really counts, but it's two words right? He also just moved up to size 6 diapers. I'm pretty sure that's as big as they come, and we are no where near potty training. We may have to start earlier than planned.
I am 95% done with my sewing project, which is 5 dresses(dance costumes). I've never really made clothes of any sort, or sewn with stretchy fabric, or had to alter patterns. A lot of firsts for me, and while I'm proud that I figured it out, I'll not be making clothes, or using stretchy fabric ever again.

Mad Hatters

So a couple of weeks ago the kids discovered the nightstand drawer that holds all the hats. Thad and I have quite a few, though we don't really wear hats. I wish I were a hat person, and back in the day I tried to be, but every time I wore one out I felt like it was weird. Like it didn't look natural on me, or that I was trying to hard to be hip or whatever. So they sit in a drawer. But the kids have been putting them to good use. They wear them around the house all day, and I think it makes them crazier if that's possible. There seems to be more running and screaming when the hats are on.

I did a little chair make-over the other day. Just our folding chair for the computer desk. The fabric was pretty disgusting, and I'm not even sure how it got so bad. But I couldn't stand it anymore, so I went and got some new fabric. Here's the after, I won't even show you a before because I am that ashamed of it.

And now I want to re-do all the chairs in the dinning room, and re-finish the table, but I am in the middle of a sewing project, so that will have to wait.
