Spring break went by quickly this year. The kids spent 3 days of it at horse camp and had a great time. They got to go with a couple friends, and I must say, made for some nice peaceful days for me and Peter. But the evenings were another story. Either they were so worn out from being out in the sun all day, or they were possessed, Jury's still out. They fought like crazy every second they were home. One day was so bad I may have threatened to cancel Easter. But I didn't.
Easter was a really nice day. We did our egg hunt in the morning, had cinnamon rolls and strawberries for breakfast and spent the day in our jammies watching conference.
I love conference weekend, and not just because we get to stay in our jammies. I love to hear from the prophet and apostles and to feel strengthened by their words. Of course the kids aren't quite as uplifted, and this happened the second the session ended.
We had dinner that evening at my parent's, and monday night with the Bulkeley's.
We've also been working on more projects around the house. I've realize recently that my projects and are a type of therapy for me. When there are things going on in my life that I have no control over, I start a project that makes me feel productive, and useful, and keeps me busy. My dad has been in and out of the hospital for the last 4 weeks to remove a tumor, and complications that have occurred since the surgery. The day he had surgery I refinished the desk in Andi's room. Since then I painted her room, made a few signs and redid her wall art, made a quilt for Peter, built and finished a dresser for Sammy, and am 90% done with a new bed for Sammy's room.
And Thad built a tree house. I've been fighting the tree house for months now, mostly because I feel like it's a safety hazard, but in the end if Thad really wants to do it, he does. So I lost and the tree house and rope ladder are in place. Peter can climb the ladder, but has a hard time actually getting in and out of the platform. There's been a lot of "Mama help!" coming from the yard lately. The kids love it, but there's a chance that Thad loves it more.
I caught Peter trying to turn the fireplace on this week. Sometimes I feel like he's going to burn the house down one day.
I also have a new calling at church. I'm 1st councilor in the young women's organization and work with the 14-15 year old girls. I'm looking forward to getting to know the girls. Thad and I are also going to be hike leaders at girls camp this summer, if we can find someone to watch our kids that is. It's proving harder than I thought. I feel like the end of the school year is coming up way to quickly, time is just flying by and I'm not ready!
